Bob Ekblad: Overcoming the Spirit of Disability

Pastor Bob Ekblad leads prayer for action and courage in response to ICE raiding the chicken processing plants in Mississippi earlier this month. We then explore the story of woman set free from the spirit of disability.

Luke 13:10-17 (ESV)

A Woman with a Disabling Spirit

10 Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your disability.” 13 And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God. 14 But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, “There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” 15 Then the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it? 16 And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?” 17 As he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame, and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him.

Bob Ekblad: Comfort from the Holy Spirit

Fresh from Certificate Training in New Zealand, Pastor Bob Ekblad speaks on comfort from the Holy Spirit, where we once sought refuge from trauma in various addictions. From Aaron White’s upcoming book, “The primary issues are not drugs, alcohol, or any other attachment, but the deeply wounded heart and deeply broken community.”

John 7:33-34 (ESV)

33 Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little longer, and then I am going to him who sent me. 34 You will seek me and you will not find me. Where I am you cannot come.”

John 14:15-17 (ESV)

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
