We are in the stages of designing a permaculture (“permanent agriculture”) garden at the new Men’s house. The garden will serve as a sanctuary for men going through recovery from addiction, watching and taking part in the tending of soil and plants. Hence, the garden will grow diverse foods sustainably and sustains a diversity of people as they grow.
Saturdays are open work days with a potluck following—that is, 9-noon we’ll work in the garden, and from noon on we’ll break bread together, ‘bread’ that we’ve all contributed. There is MUCH to do at this stage, from cleaning up downed trees and pruned branches and chipping them, to building an outhouse, from building bio-intensive garden beds to putting up a greenhouse.
Come on out!
