Isaac and Rebecca's
first encounter supports Isaac's dominance. Isaac brings her into the tent, takes
her, knows her, loves her and is comforted (Gen 24:27). This contrasts with the
betrothal narrative, where Abraham's servant treats her with more respect. In
Genesis 26 Isaac continues to treat Rebekah as an object, putting her at risk
among the men of Gerar (Gen 26:6ff).
