Soaking and Contemplative Prayer Events

Wednesdays from 7:00-9:00 pm.

Throughout Scripture, a call is given to God's children to "be still and know that I am God." It is from this call that the tradition of contemplative and soaking prayer grows.

Join us in the Tierra Nueva sanctuary for rest, renewal, and quiet time with the Lord. Sick? Hurting? In need? TN staff is available to pray for you.

Due to the advent of the summer months, soaking prayer will move to once a month for May and June.  You'll find us here on the remaining Wednesdays in April from 7-9 pm, and then May 7 and June 4.  No soaking prayer will be hosted in July and August.

Going Deep: Word, Spirit, Street

July 13-17, 2008

A five-day course this summer from Tierra Nueva and the People's Seminary!

It is an act of courage.  Plunging into baptism is a death.  A leaving of what we know and emerging with a new identity.

This July at Tierra Nueva, we look at what it means to go deeper into the depths of our identities as God's children, deeper into God's presence, and deeper into our own stories.  The five-day course will explore the relationship between the word, Spirit, and how they impact the streets of our neighborhoods and communities.

We will explore how we can live as Jesus did, knowing ourselves first as beloved children in whom God is well pleased.  From there, we interact with the Word: Jesus, the living Word; the depths of Scriptural revelation; and dialogue with God.  How does the Word translate into a form that has relevance to the most broken people in society, and broken parts of ourselves?  Finally, what does empowerment by the Holy Spirit look like and how do we receive in a deeper way?

Come into the stories of those on the margins as we track the movement of God in our midst--in the Tierra Nueva community, the jail, and migrant fields--and share some stories from your own context.  Come receive prayer and ministry in a safe community.  Join us this summer as we go deeper into our true identity and come away refreshed and empowered.

Course topics:

A Fresh Look at Conversion
Going Deeper into our Baptismal Identity
Hearing God’s Voice / Prophecy
Dialogical Bible Study—Word and Spirit
Ministry on the Margins
Intimacy with God—Resting and Receiving
Worship
Migrant Camp Visit--Mixtecto and Triqui culture

Going Deep begins Sunday evening, July 13, with a bilingual worship service at 5:00, and ends Thursday night July 17.  Cost: $145 single/$165 couple. Some accommodations available.

Contact us at 360-755-5299 to register or for more information.
